Art and Design Projects
Students learn to sew and upcycle discarded clothing into new, wearable designs while exploring the environmental and ethical issues of fast fashion. The unit ends with a runway show by Lynbrook ASB and the “In-Design” fashion club showcasing their sustainable creations.

Students study keystone or invasive species, sketch, then create 2D sgraffito and 3D sculpted tiles showing the animal in its ecosystem and environmental context.

Students explore how plants affect air quality globally, locally, and personally—studying rainforests, redwoods, and houseplants that absorb toxins. They’ll create porous paper clay to enhance soil, linking biology, pollution, and material science through hands-on learning.

In Art 1, students study color theory and environmental art to design posters featuring invasive or keystone species. By analyzing environmental posters, they learn how imagery and text work together to communicate clear messages and create impactful, awareness-raising artwork of their own.
