Student leaders from the Fremont Union High School District Climate Collective—Chloe Dahl (Grade 11, Homestead High School), Suhani Nirwal (Grade 11, Monta Vista High School), and Aahaan Jain (Grade 9, Lynbrook High School)—have been instrumental in advancing environmental education across the district. They successfully advocated for the adoption of Board Policy 6142.5 and helped pass a climate action resolution. These policies strengthened environmental education and sustainability practices in FUHSD in partnership with Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Trudy Gross and Science Curriculum Lead Kavita Gupta.

In addition, student leaders have called on the district to address rising eco-anxiety among youth, provide professional learning that equips teachers to integrate environmental education, and administer annual surveys to assess progress and impact. Their advocacy reflects a clear student voice: district survey data consistently show that students want deeper learning opportunities about their changing planet.
