FUHSD Recognized as California Green Ribbon Schools Gold Honoree!
We are thrilled to announce that FUHSD was recognized as a California Green Ribbon Schools honoree for 2026 (Gold Level) by the California Department of Education As previous recipients of a Bronze Level award in 2023, we are incredibly proud with the progress we have made in the last three years in our efforts around sustainability, health and wellness and environmental education. The California Green Ribbon Schools recognition program, administered by the CDE, honors schools and districts that demonstrate outstanding progress in three key pillars: (1) reducing environmental impact and costs, (2) improving health and wellness for students and staff, and (3) providing effective environmental and sustainability education. This recognition reflects the district's strong commitment to environmental and sustainability education across academic programs, co-curricular opportunities and professional learning. The formation of the FUHSD Climate Collective in 2023 and the annual district wide Earth Day Celebration have created further opportunities for both staff and student leadership and collaboration around climate action and sustainability that were recognized as part of this honor. A very special thank you to Science Curriculum Lead and Monta Vista High School teacher Kavita Gupta for her major contributions to the Green Ribbon Schools application process and effort. This recognition affirms FUHSD’s ongoing efforts to prepare students to be informed, engaged and responsible stewards of their communities and the planet. We are honored to be recognized for this important work.
